A Listening Ear

What is the quality that you like most about yourself?

Well, it's always hard for me to talk about my good qualities. But, I'd have to say that I am a good listener.

Ever since college, people have come to me to tell me about their problems. However, when I was younger, it was difficult for me. I felt like I needed to give advice and I didn't know what to say.

Now, I've learned that the best thing that I can offer is a listening ear and a compassionate heart. I've had over 20 years of real life experiences as an adult that helps me relate to people who are hurting. Isn't it wonderful how the Lord can use those tough times in our lives to help others?

The most important thing I'm learning about now is how to point the person to God. I can listen and care, but He is the great Counselor and He can heal even the deepest hurts.
