Good Advice - Grow Closer to Jesus, Daily

Here is the question:

If you could go b
ack in time to a pivotal point in your young life and give yourself one sentence of advice, and know that you would accept the advice, what would it be?

My answer:

Grow closer to Jesus - every day.

My life would have been different if I had wanted to grow closer to Jesus. For many years I had taken my relationship with Jesus for granted. Basically, I turned to Him when I needed something from Him. It hasn't been until this last year that I have really worked at growing closer to Him. Now, I don't read the Bible because I have to, but because I want to know Him better. I try to pray to Him through out the day. I start my day asking Him what He wants me to do. I enjoy worshiping Him, too. Although living on this Earth is difficult, I'm finally starting to have the Joy of the Lord. It takes effort to improve my relationship with Jesus. And I don't always feel close to Him. But I'm realizing how important it is include Him in my life, every day. I wish that I hadn't spent all those years keeping Jesus at a distance, and ignoring Him.

I hear you Maisie. But praise God that you recognized your need for Him daily when you did. We never get too old to figure that out, or it's never too late. Our lives are so much richer because of who He is and His faithfulness. May the Word increasingly come alive in your life and you never forget your total dependency on and total need of Him. I appreciated reading your post.

What a great post! To the point and a VERY GOOD POINT!!!

You sound like a wise woman to seek to draw closer to Jesus in your everyday life! I too seek to grow closer to HIm. It does take effort on my part but it's worth it!

I too look back and wish I hadn't kept Him at a distance for so long.

have a great weekend and thanks for your sweet comments on my post!

Great advice - recognizing our need for Him is soooo important. I especially liked, "Although living on this Earth is difficult, I'm finally starting to have the Joy of the Lord." Living on this Earth IS difficult, thank God we don't have to do it without His joy.
